Job Duties:
Disability Determination Services is to provide accurate, timely, and cost-effective determinations for disability claims filed under Title II, Title XVI, and Title XIX of the Social Security Act, as amended.
DDS is seeking a DDS Professional Relations Officer to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with the medical community and other professional organizations to ensure that medical reports are completed and submitted timely to support the adjudication of disability claims.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Performance Management - Utilizes the 5 tenets of performance management to maximize the job performance of others.
- Leadership - Serves on the office/agency/division leadership team.
- Program Management - Recruitment and Training of Consultative Examination (CE) Providers.
- Program Management - Improves Medical and Professional Source Relations.
Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge/Experience:
• Recent, extensive knowledge of Social Security disability programs and medical body systems.
• Considerable knowledge of the laws regarding confidentiality and electronic transmission.
Skills/Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to organize a large volume of work and maintain strict timeframes, production, and quality goals.
• Demonstrated ability to review and direct the work of others.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize position related computer applications.

Special Instructions:
- Must pass HSPD-12 federal credentialing.
- This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1.
- The Social Security Administration (SSA) will conduct an extensive fingerprint-based criminal history check and credentialing process on all final candidates.
