Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Division of Consumer Protection is seeking an individual to serve as a Regulatory Compliance Analyst in the Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs (OCRP). This position processes, reviews, and recommends decisions regarding applications for issuance or renewal of registrations by persons or businesses subject to the provisions of the Virginia Solicitation of Contributions Law. The successful candidate will apply departmental policies and procedures to process registrations, answer questions from regulants and the public; research, evaluate and analyze facts to resolve complaints in accordance with departmental policies and procedures; and analyze facts, collect evidence and testimony, and prepare comprehensive case reports for referral to legal and regulatory authorities for enforcement of violations when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of the principles and practices of the regulatory, compliance and investigative processes and report preparation. Computer proficiency including experience using standard business software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Analytical skills that include the ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make sound decisions. Ability to interpret and apply statutory, regulatory and policy requirements and laws to the registration of regulated entities and individuals; to analyze and to report facts accurately; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and to work independently. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse customer population and providing outstanding customer service; to work cooperatively with others in a busy office environment; and to work effectively under pressure during peak workload periods. Experience using analytical skills to conduct regulatory compliance actions or investigations. Assist with FOIA requests. H.S. diploma/GED required

Additional Considerations

Current/recent work experience in enforcement or investigative activities in a regulatory agency is preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities may substitute for this education and experience.
