Job Duties:

"This position is subject to close 10-business days (excluding holidays) from the opening date”.
In partnership with individuals with disabilities, the Division of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) assists Virginians in making informed choices to maximize their employment potential through coordinated service delivery. DRS staff also support the Workforce Network in delivering high-quality workforce services to individuals with disabilities who want to work, and to employers seeking to hire them—when such efforts align with the goals of the DRS program.
The Virginia Assistive Technology System (VATS) is federally mandated to provide State Level activities, including the reutilization of assistive technology (AT) devices. To meet this requirement, VATS prioritizes durable medical equipment (DME) reuse services through partnerships with both formal and informal organizations.
DRS is seeking a VATS AT Acquisition Coordinator to lead and deliver a comprehensive array of statewide AT services. These include:
- State Level activities: device demonstrations, short-term equipment loans, and durable medical equipment reuse
- State Leadership initiatives: training, coordination and collaboration, technical assistance, and information and referral services
This position will expand VATS’ capacity to meet the unique needs of older adults and Virginians with disabilities.
The VATS AT Acquisition Coordinator will serve as a specialized AT clinician with advanced experience in connecting individuals with appropriate AT devices and services. The role requires access to personally identifiable and confidential information related to VATS constituents, DARS consumers, and agency staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development of community-based reuse programs statewide to improve access to assistive technology.
- Administer the development of Memoranda of Agreements, contracts, and decision briefs to support State Plan activities.
- Research and analyze existing reports, needs assessments, and program data to identify trends, monitor outcomes, and recommend service enhancements.
- Lead the development and implementation of the VATS State Plan.
- Report program data using federally approved data management systems.
- Serve as DARS’ contact for the Virginia Department of Emergency Management’s (VDEM) Virginia Emergency Support Team (VEST) as a Volunteer Liaison Officer (VLO). Support emergency preparedness efforts for older adults and individuals with disabilities, including aligning DME reuse services with disaster planning and response.
- Participate on the statewide Rehabilitation Technology Services (RTS) Team and coordinate AT services with RTS members across districts and regions.
Perform other duties and special projects assigned by the supervisor.
