Job Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide direct, intensive supervision for internship students in Health, Wellness, & Rehabilitation community facilities.
- Conduct regular site visits to observe student interns, provide instruction, offer constructive feedback, and assess intern performance using established program rubrics based upon accreditation standards.
- Facilitate seminar sessions and group discussions with assigned candidates to bridge theory and practice, address current classroom challenges, and reflect on their professional growth.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the School of Education, the intern, and the site supervisor.
- Evaluate candidate performance for program completion and certification readiness.
- Assist in the recruitment and support of cooperating/mentor site facilities and supervisors.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the clinical experience component of the Exercise Science programs.
- Ability to teach basic health, health education, and fundamental fitness courses.
- Participate in department, college, and university service activities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in health, health education or related field.
- Possesses considerable knowledge of and skill in areas of Health Education, Physical Education, and Health & Fitness with a broad knowledge of related fields.
- Skilled in the use of instructional technology and learning management systems (e.g., Banner/Blackboard) as well as computer software related to health, fitness, and exercise related content.
Additional Considerations
- Doctorate degree in health, health education or related field.
- A record of successful clinical supervision and/or mentorship of health, health education, and/or exercise science students.
- Experience supervising students at the university level.
- Evidence of working successfully with diverse student populations and within urban/rural school settings.
- Familiarity with and certifications in the areas of Kinesiotherapy (RKT), Health Education (CHES), Exercise Science (ACSM/NSCA/ATC)
