Job Duties
Proficient in hair cutting, trimming, and shaving
Experience with traditional and modern barbering techniques
Skilled in beard and mustache grooming
Knowledge of sanitation, sterilization, and infection control
Ability to work with sensitive skin, thinning hair, and scalp conditions
Proper use and maintenance of barber tools and equipment
Personal & Interpersonal Skills
Respectful and compassionate communication
Patience and empathy when working with elderly clients
Ability to actively listen and follow client preferences
Professional demeanor and reliability
Cultural sensitivity and respect for military backgrounds
Healthcare & Safety Awareness
Understanding of basic health precautions (cuts, skin conditions, blood safety)
Ability to adapt services for clients with limited mobility, PTSD, or cognitive impairments
Knowledge of wheelchair and bedside grooming techniques
Compliance with facility health and safety regulations
Awareness of signs of discomfort or medical concerns and reporting appropriately
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Cosmetologist License in the state of Virginia
