Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Sr. Internal Auditor for a position within its Information Security & Risk Management administration in Richmond, VA.

The Sr. Internal Auditor performs under the direction of the Chief of Internal Audit, with considerable independence, planning, developing, and executing the agency’s internal audit plan, utilizing an integrated audit approach. The position also provides advisory services to management and user groups with regard to financial, compliance, operational efficiency, program effectiveness, application controls, data security, integrity controls of data processing operations, and management of automated systems. Additionally, the Sr. Auditor mentors audit staff in all areas and communicates control weaknesses and recommendations for correction to management.

Pursuant to Sections 2.2-3115 and 2.22-3115 of the Code of Virginia, this position is designated to file a Statement of Economic Interests Form on or before the date the office or position is assumed and annually thereafter.

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess the ability to evaluate business processes, workflows and organizational issues, analyze data, reach logical conclusions and provide recommendations that result in meaningful improvement.
• Ability to define audit objectives and design procedures to accomplish those objectives.
• Ability to interpret pertinent laws and regulations and apply to specific situations.
• Experience performing multiple and diverse projects simultaneously.
• Must possess strong written and oral communication skills to develop audit reports/working papers that are complete, clear, well organized, and concise.
• Ability to establish and maintain constructive, positive and objective working relationships with internal customers at all levels in the organization.
• Ability to meet deadlines for assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others, gather and document work processes and observations, and make recommendations.
• Possess strong analytical and computer skills.
• Ability to mentor other staff members.
• Ability to travel within the Commonwealth for up to 30% of working time, with some occasional overnight travel.

Additional Considerations

• Previous experience working as an internal auditor OR managerial experience working in a DMV Customer Service Center (CSC) or work center.
• Familiarity with the internal audit process is preferred.
