Job Duties
The Assistant Regional Nurse Manager provides leadership, guidance, supervisory, clinical and administrative support to the Health Authorities within the assigned Region.
Ensures the provision of health care is maintained within state and federal guidelines. Conducts periodic reviews of policies and assists in standardizing health care procedures throughout the region, resulting in the overall improvement in health care within the Department of Corrections.
Assists in the recruitment and retention of health care personnel. Provides orientation to new Health Authorities in the Region upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of professional nursing principles and evidence-based practices, to include ‘Continuous Quality Improvement’ (CQI), risk management, patient safety and the scope and standards of practice of correctional nursing published by the ‘American Nurses Association’ (ANA).
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively while using dialogic practices, evaluate performances, negotiate changes to improve services, and effective problem solving techniques.
Demonstrated ability to review and suggest improvements in healthcare procedures and ensure excellent customer service is provided.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate performances.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate changes to improve services. Demonstrated skill with effective problem solving techniques. Demonstrated ability to interpret policy.
Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments independently.
Ability to recognize and promote good working relationships.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Experience as a Supervisory Nurse/Nurse Manager.
Experience with monitoring staff performance, including the performance management process.
Proficiency in standard computer applications, such as Microsoft Suite, Google docs, etc.
Possess a working knowledge of the principles and practice of nursing administration.
Additional Considerations
Ability to obtain certification in correctional nursing after 1 year of DOC employment.
Experience in an acute care setting.
