Job Duties

Under the direction of the State Title V Maternal and Infant Health Programs Coordinator, this position will serve as the primary state lead on topics related to infant wellness, with a focus on breastfeeding and safe sleep practices. This position will coordinate with state partners, including Virginia's local health districts, hospital systems, and community-based organizations. This position will maintain the Breastfeeding Friendly Designation Program for birthing hospitals in the state. This position will also maintain flexibility to emergent or trending topics in the maternal and infant wellness field. This position translates Title V’s national and state performance and outcome measures and evidence-based best practices into measurable strategies and data-to-action implementation at the local level and ensures alignment with the Title V State Action Plan. This position will be responsible for reporting activities into the Annual Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant report for breastfeeding and safe sleep. This position will participate in annual conferences and ongoing professional development. Provides routine reports to supervisor regarding program activities, resource issues, and program outcomes, and support in legislative analyses as requested by supervisor. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of program planning, research, evaluation, and quality control methods.
• Experience providing technical assistance related to program development and analysis.
• Experience in conducting research, including data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
• Ability to interpret and implement data collection and reporting requirements.
• Experience leading complex research or related projects.
• Ability to develop reports, manage electronic data, and create effective data visualizations.
• Skilled in presenting information clearly and effectively.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written, to provide leadership, set priorities, facilitate collaboration, and effectively convey information to others.

Additional Considerations

- Experience working in field of public health.
- Experience working in maternal and infant health.
- Knowledge of infant wellness, including breastfeeding and safe sleep.

This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Title V Maternal and Child Health Grant. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.
