Job Duties

Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of psychiatric nursing to provide care appropriate to the adult and geriatric patient populations.

Must have demonstrated ability to:
• Supervise and schedule nursing staff with effectiveness and efficiency.
• Effectively use electronic health record, nursing scheduling, communication, and
reporting systems
• Provide leadership and interventions in emergency codes.
• Make difficult decisions with authority and ownership and through appropriate
consultation.
• Resolve problems using data, obtaining input from others, and evaluating results.
• Effectively use of interpersonal skills to communicate, listen, teach, and motivate.
• Remain optimistic when handling multiple priorities through time management,
organizational skills, and delegation.
• Intervene assertively and appropriately to address clinical crises or workplace conflict.
• Build constructive working relationships and customer relations between disciplines,
departments, and the public.
• Achieve successful resolution of complaints from individuals, families, visitors, as well
as other employees.
• Demonstrate experience in utilizing resources with fiscally sound judgment.
• See and hear adequately to include peripheral abilities, to recognize hazardous
situation/area.
• Expertly implement the Nursing Process for adult and geriatric populations.
• Professionally create and present written documents and reports.
• Direct infection prevention and control practices and appropriately apply standards in
daily activities.
• Ensure Joint Commission, CMS, OIG, and other regulatory/accrediting agency
standards are implemented and met.
• Work in a secure and locked environment with individuals who are experiencing acute
symptoms of mental illness and/or additional forensic/legal involvement.
• Perform physical demands such as: repetitious walking and/or standing; bending,
lifting, and reaching overhead to position, restrain, transfer, transport, and/or escort
patients and to perform or assist them in activities of daily living.
• Be flexible with schedule and assignments working overtime in staffing emergencies
or inclement weather situations
• Time-adjusting work schedule throughout the work week.
• Must successfully complete TO (Therapeutic Options) Training, and CPR

Minimum Qualifications

 

Additional Considerations

• Strongly prefer extensive experience in upper-level management and supervision of
multiple levels of nursing staff
• Excellent computer skills including electronic health record and electronic nursing
scheduling.
