Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking an Insurance Services Work Leader. The Insurance Services Work Leader is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Insurance Services unit, mentoring staff, and ensuring adherence to DMV policies and procedures. This role includes performing complex insurance verification processes, assisting with escalated cases, and serving as the section leader in the absence of the Manager. The incumbent collaborates with team members, stakeholders, and leadership to meet compliance standards and operational goals.
The mission of Vehicle Services Administration is to support the agency's vision, mission, customer service philosophy, and Code of Professionalism by ensuring the accuracy of the agency's vehicle operations. This includes vehicle titling, registration, license plate development, insurance verification, salvage, dealer programs, and online programs, all in compliance with federal and state laws. The department manages the development of policies and procedures for these operations in support of our field units and stakeholders.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. In addition, DMV serves many businesses, including dealers, fuel tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations. Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of business English, grammar, and math.
• Understanding of DMV’s insurance verification processes and related regulations.
• Ability to perform detailed work accurately and interpret policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and DMV databases.
Additional Considerations
• Experience conducting research and resolving customer inquiries.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
• Experience with DMV operations, insurance verification, or regulatory compliance processes.
