About the Agency:
The Virginia Department of Military Affairs is a Commonwealth of Virginia state agency that provides professional and responsive support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Purpose of Position:
Provide Journeyman Level Trades Work for the Buildings & Structures Branch to include the Carpentry, Locksmith, Wood Working, Structures Finishing, Roofing, Painting and Insulating Trades for MTC, Fort Pickett and Other VaARNG Facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of carpentry, wood working, wood crafting, blocking & bracing;
Knowledge, skills and abilities in the locksmith trade;
Knowledge of master keying systems;
Knowledge of cement finishing, masonry, & roofing;
Knowledge of painting & insulating;
Knowledge of basic safety and OSHA procedures and regulations;
Ability to read, interpret, drawing and technical specifications and apply to the work;
Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record;
Skill in verbal and written communications.
Additional Considerations
Journey level building & structures trades experience preferred;
Registered Locksmith Certification (CRL) preferred;
Training in OSHA regulations and work safety monitoring preferred.
