The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth. Provide clerical support and assistance to the Department of Education, specifically assigned to the Student Academic and Support Services (SASS) team and the Division of Education regarding student information and records.
This position implements office procedures such as filing, copying, recording data, note taking, maintaining office equipment, and keeping track of materials and supplies, and assisting with special projects as requested. The person in this position assists with the maintenance and distribution of student records and preparing those records for transfer to the Library of Virginia for storage. This position requires excellent oral and written skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of office practices, procedures, and techniques.
- Considerable knowledge of computer software packages to include, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet applications, and database management.
- Proficient knowledge of computer software packages used in a business setting to include word processing, spreadsheet applications, database management and considerable skill in keyboarding.
- Ability to organize and evaluate work; interpret, explain, and apply a wide range of standards, policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and work effectively with multiple interdisciplinary managers and teams.
- Must be self-motivated and require little to no direct supervision to function effectively.
- Must have the ability to adapt swiftly to changes in priorities and assignments.
- Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and in an organized manner. Competent in resolving conflicts among assignments.
- Experience in maintaining filing systems and confidential records.
- Must be able to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Committed to ongoing growth and training in DJJ and DHRM policies and procedures
Additional Considerations
- Preferred experience working with a Student Information System database.
