Job Duties

SSTT Leads are responsible for training, mentoring, and supporting newly hired SSTT staff throughout their onboarding period. They introduce new team members to VCBR’s mission, values, and daily unit operations, while teaching essential skills such as safety protocols, documentation practices, resident engagement, de-escalation techniques, and therapeutic communication. SSTT Leads serve as positive role models, working alongside new staff to provide guidance, answer questions, offer constructive feedback, and build confidence. As the primary point of contact during onboarding, SSTT Leads ensure new staff feel well-prepared, supported, and equipped to succeed in their role.
SSTT Leads also mentor veteran staff to reinforce best practices and promote professional growth, encourage professional development and maintain a high standard of therapeutic engagement. They also plan and conduct specialized training sessions and refresher inservices to ensure all SSTT staff remain competent, confident and aligned with VCBR’s operational standards and therapeutic goals.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to operate automated control systems, personal computer and to use computerized forms for data entry
• Ability to work any assigned post as directed by supervisor.

Additional Considerations

Considerable experience working in a Human Services position. Associates degree in Human Services is preferred. Experience working with sex offenders preferred. Experience working with residents in a forensic environment preferred.
