Job Duties

Key responsibilities include conducting routine investigations of animal bites, obtaining animal confinement forms, preparing rabies specimens for transport and follow up on animal confinement releases. Also, it requires the ability to read and interpret regulations and conduct inspections related to campgrounds, summer camps, swimming pools and lodging facilities.

The EHA will process FOIA requests related to septic and well records.
Additional duties include data entry in the Environmental Health Database (EHD) and performing low-complexity environmental investigations related to public health complaints. Complaints will be associated with campgrounds, summer camps, swimming pools, lodging facilities and other general complaints of public health concern. The EHA will assist EHS with field work in the septic / well program and food program. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to public health and safety while gaining hands-on experience in environmental health practices.

**This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Public Health Infrastructure Grant ending November 30, 2027. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.**

Minimum Qualifications

• Skills in composition of reports, data entry and effective communication
• Proficient in basic computer software programs
• Ability to conduct inspections and investigations in all areas of environmental health, to work outdoors and perform moderately strenuous physical labor during all seasons
• Skills in problem solving essential
• Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds
• A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency
