Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a Driver Training Technician. The Driver Training Technician manages the application, certification, and compliance processes for various driver training-related programs. This role involves processing applications, maintaining compliance with state and DMV regulations, handling financial transactions, and supporting internal and external stakeholders.

The Driver Training Division, promotes safe driving practices by overseeing the certification and regulation of driver education and improvement programs. This division ensures that driver training schools, instructors, and programs meet state standards, facilitating the education of new and at-risk drivers to support safe and responsible driving across the state.

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. Minimum Qualifications

•Experience interpreting and explaining guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures to customers
•Experience communicating courteously and effectively with others orally and in writing
•Experience composing correspondence, proofreading, researching, and analyzing data
•Knowledge of Virginia motor vehicle laws and regulations
•Strong communication, organizational, and data management skills
•Experience in customer service and compliance
•Knowledge of Business English and Mathematics

Additional Considerations

•Knowledge of driver training programs and their regulatory requirements
•Experience in a DMV or similar regulatory agency, especially with program support
