Job Duties

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Teaching student-athletes the fundamentals and mechanics of football.
  • Evaluating and recruiting potential student-athletes.
  • Organizing and conducting team practices.
  • Performing administrative and public relations duties and other duties as assigned.
  • The successful candidate will serve as a position coach for Defensive Line.
  • The successful candidate will travel for both recruiting and team travel.
  • The work schedule requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • The physical requirement for work is medium demand, including lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent carrying/lifting objects.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with NSU, the Commonwealth of Virginia, NCAA, and MEAC rules, regulations, and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum five years, NFL professional level playing experience.
• Minimum of 8-10 years, coaching experience at the college or semiprofessional level.
• Must have DI collegiate coaching experience
• Experience coaching and/or playing on the Defensive side of the ball – specialty as Defensive Line.
• Demonstrated experience with recruiting and student-athlete development.
• Proven record of adherence to NCAA academic and compliance regulations.
• A successful criminal background check is required.

Additional Considerations

• Master’s degree.
• Must have been selected for an internship or academy in professional-level sports (NFL).
