Job Duties
New College Institute is seeking two reliable, technically skilled individuals with strong communication and customer service abilities to serve as part-time A/V Specialists. These are non-benefited, hourly wage positions working approximately 14.5 hours per week each, with evening and weekend hours.
These positions support the delivery of high-quality audio/visual experiences for NCI events, classrooms, meetings, and programs. The A/V Specialists provide on-site technical support, operate and maintain A/V systems, and collaborate with staff to ensure smooth and professional event and instructional experiences. These roles report to the IT Department and may assist with basic IT support functions as needed.
Job Duties
- Provide on-site audio/visual and technical support for classes, meetings, events, and rentals.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot A/V and video conferencing systems.
- Respond to A/V service requests and technical support needs in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with the Event and Administrative Coordinator to ensure seamless customer experiences for events and meetings.
- Assist with A/V training for NCI staff and partners, including documentation and delivery of procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance, system checks, and testing of A/V equipment and systems.
- Assist with A/V installations as needed, including mounting displays, running cabling, equipment mounting, system programming, and configuration.
- Provide basic IT support as directed, including assistance with hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Customer service or technical support experience.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues and follow established procedures.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts.
- Customer service or technical support experience.
- Experience working with audio/visual equipment, including microphones, speakers, amplifiers, soundboards, projectors, monitors, or video conferencing systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues following standard procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Additional Considerations
- Associate degree in communications, technology, or related field
- Experience with Crestron, Extron, or similar A/V control systems
- Proficiency with video conferencing platforms or Adobe Creative Suite
