Job Duties

Lead and inspire a mission-critical team that keeps Virginia’s Unemployment Insurance System (VUIS) running at peak performance. As the Production Support Supervisor, you’ll ensure 24/7 system reliability, security, and compliance for thousands of claimants and employers. From managing high-stakes incidents and coordinating releases to driving proactive monitoring and enforcing statewide IT standards, this role is at the heart of safeguarding essential services for Virginia’s workforce. Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of web/cloud architectures (e.g., Azure/Java/SQL Server), SDLC, and application ops/tooling for monitoring, logging, alerting, and deployment.

Demonstrated expertise in ITIL incident/problem/change management; running major incident bridges; RCA; release and environment management.

Strong leadership, stakeholder communication, prioritization, and vendor coordination skills; ability to meet production deadlines and continually improve processes.

Working knowledge of VITA PSGs, including SEC525 for hosted environments and cloud compliance requirements for Commonwealth agencies.

Hands‑on experience with ITIL practices (incident/problem/change), batch operations, release management, and stakeholder communications; familiarity with authentication/SSO in public‑facing portals.

Additional Considerations

Prior leadership of production support for unemployment insurance or similar public‑service systems; experience with observability/APM tooling.

Significant experience leading production support teams for mission‑critical applications.

ITIL Foundation, PMP (or equivalent), and/or relevant cloud certifications.
