Job Duties

The NSU Department of Engineering offers academic programs to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for successful professional careers in engineering and related fields. The Department seeks to hire a Program Administrative Specialist to support the efficient execution of practices in support of student advising, retention, and recruitment, and to assist in the performance of administrative requirements for procurement, payroll, and other budgetary transactions.

The successful candidate will facilitate efficient administrative operations for the Engineering Department by:

  • Organizing and maintaining undergraduate student records (and other data) to support
    advising, retention, and recruiting activities;
  • Participating in record keeping and administrative requirements as required for
    procurement, payroll, and other financial activities;
  • Performing additional auxiliary tasks as requested.


Typical Duties Include:

  1. Organizing and documenting administrative practices and policies to support student
    academic success;
  2. Organizing and summarizing database information and generating reports to improve
    administrative efficiency within the Engineering Department;
  3. Executing required purchasing and procurement actions;
  4. Supervising work/study student assistants;
  5. Working collaboratively with faculty and staff to advance organizational goals and
    objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office or other relevant computer applications.
  • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to generate charts, graphs, or other illustrative aids to facilitate analysis or
    shared use.
  • Possesses previous administrative experience in higher education environment.

Additional Considerations

  • Associates degree from accredited institution or equivalent work experience in areas of
    relevance to the required duties.
  • Experience and knowledge in the implementation of policies and procedures for an accredited college or university campus, including the use of Colleague Financial database, and Colleague Ellucian personnel database.
