Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is looking to hire a Computer Systems Engineer for a position within its IT Services Administration at the headquarters location in Richmond, VA. This position is open to current DMV employees only.
This role leverages expert project management skills to lead technical projects, managing the full development life cycle from requirement definition through design, testing, and implementation. This role requires complex problem-solving, collaboration with business and technical teams, and adherence to security and regulatory standards. Additionally, this role ensures that solutions align with DMV’s mission-critical goals while optimizing system performance and scalability.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. Minimum Qualifications
• In-depth knowledge of systems analysis methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
• Expertise in designing secure, scalable solutions that align with business and technical requirements.
• Skilled in implementing long-term, robust solutions to complex issues that prevent reoccurrence.
• Proven ability to lead IT projects, develop comprehensive project schedules, manage resources, and drive teams to deliver on time and within scope.
• Adept at handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders: technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
• Hands-on experience with both web-based and mainframe systems in development, implementation, and system support.
• Experience in application coding, testing methods and test data generation.
Additional Considerations
• Deep understanding of compliance standards, ADA regulations, and other compliance frameworks.
• Ability to ensure systems meet all security requirements and regulatory obligations, protecting data integrity and privacy.
• Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP)/Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)/Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
