Job Duties

DMV is seeking a Carpenter Master Technician. The Carpenter Master Technician role specializes in carpentry and maintenance while supporting a broad range of maintenance tasks including painting, locksmithing, electrical and plumbing as needed. The position ensures facility functionality and safety through regular carpentry maintenance, emergency response support, facility management, and strict adherence to DMV and OSHA safety protocols. Additional responsibilities include handling hazardous materials, interpreting blueprints, ensuring building code compliance, maintaining accurate maintenance records, and coordinating with external vendors for effective facility operations.
The work environment can vary widely based on the tasks being performed. While administrative tasks occur in a standard office or remote setting, maintenance activities often involve hazardous conditions, including exposure to high noise levels, extreme heat, or cold, and potential safety risks. Flexibility and situational awareness are essential, as daily tasks and environmental conditions are highly variable.

The position’s hours are typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility for occasional weekend work, on-call duty, and overtime as needed. As emergency staff, the technician must be ready to respond promptly to critical facility issues to maintain safe, functional DMV operations.

Travel is minimal and generally limited to state training sessions, with occasional overnight stays if the training or conference extends beyond a single day. Travel is typically within the state and scheduled in advance.

Safety is a top priority in this role, especially given the potential hazards associated with maintenance tasks. Proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols are essential to minimize risks. Regular training ensures that all staff are well-prepared to handle safety risks and maintain a secure, health-conscious work environment.
