About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Intelligence Analyst Senior in our Virginia Fusion Center (VFC) at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

• Conducting analysis of and is responsible for the research, production, and dissemination of criminal intelligence and investigative information related to unsolved sexually motivated violent crimes and cold case investigations.
• Conducting a requisite level of analytic and investigative support for ongoing criminal investigations relating to sexually motivated homicide, missing person, unidentified remains, and violent sex offense cases throughout the Commonwealth.
• Responding to requests for analytic support in a timely and efficient manner.
• Providing assistance for these and other special projects/investigations in the Violent Crime Analytical Support Team (VCAST) of the VFC.
• Responsible for providing analytical recommendations to sworn investigators, prosecutors, and other partners regarding sexually motivated violent crimes and cold cases.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge:

• Of organization management.
• Of operation principles.
• Of research and analysis techniques and methodologies.
• Of data collection.
• Of statistical analysis, interpretation, and sampling methods and techniques.

Skills:

• In operating computers and using computer programs and database applications, to include Microsoft Office applications.

Abilities:

• To research, compile, analyze, and apply appropriate analytical and evaluative techniques to make recommendations on cases involving sexually motivated unsolved violent crimes and cold cases.
• To review and assist with complex criminal investigations and provide fact based analytical judgments and recommendations.
• To communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• To read, explain, and apply policies, procedures, and regulations.
• To establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and managers.

• Experience or training in social science, government, business, or criminal justice related field.
• Experience working in an investigative or analytical capacity.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
• Ability to obtain federal security clearance.
• Requires three-year commitment to the Virginia Fusion Center and ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

• Analytical or investigative experience in criminal analytical training preferred.
• Public safety experience or other broad scope governmental experience preferred.
• Analytical or investigative experience working unsolved/cold case sexual assaults and sexually motivated homicides is preferred.
