Job Duties
The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high volume, fast paced office environment with frequent deadlines. Ensures court’s instructions are executed and legal documents prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies. The Deputy Clerk is trained in the pre-court, courtroom, post court and customer service responsibilities.
Duties include preparing detailed court documents in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. Position requires planning, scheduling, and prioritizing duties to coincide with the needs of the Court. Responsibilities include customer service via phone and in-person, receipting, distributing court documents, data entry and filing. Processing civil cases filed by DCSE and pro se parties, warrants, criminal motions, juvenile delinquency petitions, protective orders, and juvenile traffic ticket. Duties also include preparing dockets, assisting the Judge in the courtroom, scheduling matters for court, assessing fines and costs, generating required paperwork for incarcerated defendants, post court processing of cases, knowledge of automated case management system, preparing correspondence and filing court documents. Applicants must be able to multitask and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. Most competitive applicants will have considerable court and/or law office related experience. Applicants should be highly organized and possess significant knowledge, skills, and abilities in time and performance management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software required.
