Job Duties

The Office of Emergency Preparedness seeks a qualified candidate to serve as the State Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Coordinator. This position provides strong state-level leadership to ensure coordinated, consistent, and focused direction across all local health district and regional programs, and to ensure that federal guidance is incorporated throughout the Commonwealth.

The State MRC Coordinator will represent and oversee the administration, operations, internal and external agency coordination, and logistics to support a successful MRC program capable of mobilizing volunteers to provide emergency and daily support to the Virginia Department of Health. Serve as the representative and liaison for VDH internal, state and federal stakeholders and partners regarding the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps program. Manages volunteer integration of the Virginia Volunteer Health System and Virginia MRC program with healthcare coalitions and partners.

This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Cooperative Agreement for a 1 year period ending June 30, 2026. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.


Minimum Qualifications

• Experience representing a government organization or nonprofit
organizations
• Experience in budgeting and reporting for federal grants
• Knowledge of the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps program, public health
and state government
• Must be able to develop and maintain relationships with federal and state
stakeholders and partners
• Experience in leading meetings and delivering presentations in person and
using online platforms required
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and
collaboratively
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products and Google collaborative
workspace
• Experience in leading and evaluating teams
• Employee supervision experience needed

Additional Considerations

• Knowledge of emergency management, public health and the Medical Reserve Corps
program
• Certification in Volunteer Administration preferred.
• Knowledge of the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps program, public health and state
government is preferred
