Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH), Office of Drinking Water (ODW), is seeking to fill an Sample Verification Program (SVP) Manager position in the Central Office team! The position is located at 109 Governor Street, Richmond VA. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an office filled with passionate public health professionals dedicated to ensuring safe and reliable drinking water for citizens of Virginia. This position is eligible for partial telework and alternative work schedules. Responsible for managing the Sampling Verification Program (SVP) and supervising SVP program staff with the goal of ensuring waterworks compliance sample results are free of errors and falsification. Develops the policies and procedures for the Sampling Verification Program. Responsible for maintaining and updating the sampling verification chapter for the sampling manual. Communicates issues discovered to the ODW Division of Compliance and Enforcement and the Field Office Director, as appropriate. Recommends program budget and coordinates procurement. Manages, organizes, and interprets all data related to the Sampling Verification Program. Collaborates with ODW leadership and external partners to promote program goals in conjunction with wider ODW goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience with project management and excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement the data collection and reporting requirements of the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and State regulations.
- Knowledge of statistics, modeling, interpretation and presentation of information, and the ability to use presentation software and create/integrate graphs & charts in reports.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, customer service, leadership, data quality and analytical skills.
Additional Considerations
- Current experience with Tableau or similar data visualization and analytics platform preferred.
- Experience supervising direct reports preferred.
