Job Duties:
The Trades Shop at Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) is seeking an HVAC PM Repair Technician to provide HVAC repair and maintenance on campus.
Essential Duties:
• Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment including split systems, air handlers, make-up air units, exhaust fans, fan coils, WSHPs, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and associated pumps, piping, and controls.
• Maintains plumbing systems including domestic water heaters, water softeners, circulation pumps, sump pumps, and associated piping and fixtures.
• Maintains small appliances such as kitchen and laundry equipment.
Performs weekly checks on mechanical rooms and systems to ensure proper operation.
• Repairs HVAC systems and plumbing systems listed above, as well as small appliances.
• Assists with tasks in other trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing
• Responds to emergencies and inclement weather situations as an essential employee during on-call weeks; must notify supervisor if unable to report due to weather.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required for Entry into Position:
• Considerable experience in an institution type facility performing preventative maintenance and repair of all trade related systems, including HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
• CFC certification, EPA Section 608 Type 2 or Universal
• Valid Virginia Driver's License.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of all types of HVAC systems.
• Knowledge and ability to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and make repairs on HVAC equipment to include residential and commercial equipment.
• Knowledge and ability to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and make and repairs on Plumbing systems to include residential and commercial systems
• Ability to read and work from blueprints to diagnoses, service and repair all types of HVAC and electrical/electronic equipment.
• Knowledge of national and local building & safety code.
• Knowledge of advanced HVAC and electrical skills including the use of hand and power tools, meters, testers, and other tools of trade.
• Knowledge and ability to trouble shoot and repair small appliances such as kitchen and laundry equipment
• Completed formal HVAC and Electrical/electronic training courses.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing with various levels of professional and non-professionals daily.
