Job Duties
The Division of Services will provide a quality program of individualized rehabilitation services, educational consultation, technical assistance, and instruction that will empower eligible individuals to achieve their desired levels of independence consistent with their abilities and informed choices.
We are seeking a Braille Unit and Operations Manager to manage, coordinate, and provide Braille textbook transcriptions for use by blind, visually impaired and deaf-blind children in Virginia; review and implement Braille transcription policies to facilitate provision of Braille textbooks to blind, visually impaired and deaf-blind children in Virginia. Assist the Director of the LRC in the fiscal functions in the Library Resource Center. Provide fiscal and program support to ensure the delivery of LRC services through using systems (procurement, payment of invoices, contract maintenance and Bank of America Works activities.) Assistance organizing the braille unit textbooks at Villa Park upon arrival at the facility during the move from the Azalea Campus.
Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge/Experience:
- Experience supervising employees, including mentoring and providing guidance.
- Extensive computer experience, including proficiency with word processing software, databases, and other computer software systems.
- Customer service experience, including helping individuals with disabilities.
- Experience with inventory control and familiarity with inventory database systems.
- Administrative Office Experience.
- Working knowledge of Bank of America Works and SPCC card policies.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to learn and understand that Braille materials require transcription and that different Braille codes exist, along with proficiency in word processing and related software tools.
- Ability to use software to enter book information and book requests.
- Ability to work with transcribers and assign Braille transcription requests.
- Strong organizational skills.
Additional Considerations:
- Working knowledge of NIMAC and organizations that assist in providing access to electronic books.
- Experience using eVA and the procurement system.
