Job Duties
The PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports the supervising Occupational Therapist in providing rehabilitative services to veterans. This role assists in implementing treatment plans designed to improve independence in Activities of Daily Living, functional performance, and overall quality of life.
Schedule: PRN / As Needed: Employee works on an as needed basis, with hours determined by patient volume, staffing needs, and facility demand. May be asked to work weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays. PRN staffing used frequently during weekday hours.

Minimum Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
• Assist the supervising Occupational Therapist in carrying out individualized treatment plans
• Provide therapeutic interventions focused on ADLs, mobility, cognitive skills, and functional independence
• Document patient progress in accordance with facility, regulatory, and professional standards
• Educate veterans and caregivers on adaptive strategies and the use of assistive devices
• Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration to support comprehensive care
• Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive therapeutic environment
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the supervising therapist in a timely manner
Additional Considerations
What We’re Looking For
• Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, rehabilitative techniques, and person-centered care
• Skill in implementing treatment activities and adapting interventions to patient needs
• Ability to follow treatment plans under OT supervision
• Ability to work effectively with diverse veteran populations
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and clinical staff
• Basic computer skills for documentation and electronic health record systems through PCC and Net Health Rehab Optima
• Experience working with veterans or in VA affiliated settings is beneficial
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to high quality, compassionate care
• Ability to work independently while meeting supervision requirements
• Flexibility to adapt to changing caseloads and patient needs
