Job Duties

To provide statewide oversight, guidance, and support to DOC stakeholders in regard to financial/accounting practices and processes as well as the Commonwealth's Automated Accounting System (Cardinal) in accordance with established Federal, State, and agency policies, procedures, and guidelines.

To provide comprehensive and timely analyses and recommendations pertaining to financial systems and reporting to DOC stakeholders as required by state law, directives, regulations, and state and agency policies and procedures. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to 1099 Reporting, Inmate Pay and Trust, CORIS Financials, and Year End ACFR (Annual Comprehensive Financial Reporting).

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and exposure to a wide variety of financial systems and common business practices. Experience evaluating, recommending and assisting in the development of automated financial systems for a large, complex organization. Proven ability and experience in preparing and analyzing consolidated financial statements and management reports for a broad and extensive agency. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational and customer service skills, and the ability to supervise multiple employees in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Considerations

Considerable experience of progressively responsible financial, administrative, and supervisory experience in a multifaceted environment with proven results in financial systems and reporting. Equivalent combination of training and experience.
