Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Health is currently seeking an experienced Sr. Auditor to join our Office of Internal Audit. The Sr. Auditor will play an important role in planning, leading and conducting a variety of internal audits of all VDH activities. The Senior Auditor will serve as Auditor-In-Charge of routine audits. The position may assist with or conduct other special investigations or special projects. Some of the duties are as follows:
• Plans, conducts, and reports on audits with minimal supervision, ensuring compliance with OIA standards and timelines.
• Prepares and maintains audit workpapers, develops recommendations, and drafts audit reports.
• Manages time reporting, prioritizes work effectively, and performs additional duties such as training, meetings, and collaboration with internal and external auditors.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to plan and conduct a variety of different audits independently, apply generally accepted audit principles and professional internal auditing standards, analyze data to arrive at logical conclusions and identify and propose solutions to problems
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple concurrent audits, meet reasonable timeframes for project completion, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency officials, employees and partnership contacts
• Position requires excellent written and oral communication skills as well as human relations skills. Experience using Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to learn and interpret government and business processes
• Ability to research and interpret applicable federal, state, and local government laws, regulations, and statutes

Additional Considerations

• Considerable audit experience
• Certification in one or more professional areas is preferred (CIA, CPA, CISA, or other professional certification)
