The Virginia Department of Fire Programs serves the citizens of the Commonwealth by enhancing public safety through supplemental funding to local governments, education and training to first responders, fire prevention and life safety education through community risk reduction and statewide fire code enforcement.
About the Position
The Curriculum and Accreditation Manager supports the mission of VDFP by ensuring curriculum integrity, accreditation compliance, and standardized instructional policies and practices are established across agency training programs. Specifically, this position will be responsible for but not limited to providing operational oversight of the Curriculum Development and Accreditation Section of the Training and Operations Branch; provide direct supervision for assigned Curriculum and Accreditation personnel; and ensuring all agency training programs are developed, revised, and maintained in accordance with applicable standards and accreditation requirements. The incumbent of this position will also coordinate the curriculum review processes; manage Subject Matter Expert (SME) groups; maintains/controls accreditation documentation; and supports third-party accreditation activities. The Curriculum and Accreditation Manager will collaboratively work with division leadership to maintain audit readiness, curriculum governance, and accreditation reporting.

Minimum Qualifications
•Working knowledge of fire service curriculum development and adult learning principles.
•Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements (e.g., NFPA alignment, NFA, and third-party certification bodies).
•Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
•Ability to manage and facilitate SME committees and stakeholder workgroups.
•Knowledge of documentation control practices and audit preparation processes.
•Working knowledge of supervisory principles and state performance management requirements.
•Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet established deadlines.
•Ability to compile, review, and analyze program data.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to collaborate with internal divisions and external training partners.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agency learning systems.
Additional Considerations
•Extensive experience demonstrating the ability to manage data and coordinate administrative functions.
•Certification in training and development or learning management desired.
•Considerable experience demonstrating the ability to train, mentor and coach others.
•Valid driver's license and ability to drive to job related activities; must be willing to travel overnight occasionally.
•Ability to successfully qualify for U.S. Government Security Clearance.
