About the Agency
The Department of Elections promotes and supports accurate, fair, open and secure elections for the citizens of the Commonwealth. ELECT ensures the proper administration of election laws, campaign finance disclosure compliance, and voter registration processes in the state by promulgating rules, regulations, issuing instructions, and providing information to local Electoral Boards and general registrars.

About the Position
The Elections and Registration Specialist is a liaison to Virginia’s elections community. This role provides effective customer service with local election staff and other external stakeholders, while also ensuring compliance with state and federal election administration laws. Internally, this position collaborates with policy and technical teams to not only assist in answering community questions, but also to advocate on legislative implementation, official agency advisories, and product and process improvement. As a member of the Election Services team, this position has immense opportunity to grow one’s knowledge of elections in Virginia and to be a key part of constantly improving how the Department of Elections and local election offices work for the people of the Commonwealth.

Minimum Qualifications

· Proven ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail while handling multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to provide services and meet goals.
· Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
· Strong knowledge of office and records management, personal computer equipment, and office software.
· Ability to analyze, recommend, and develop process improvement.
· Ability to collaborate with other team members to develop and deliver quality guidance and training materials.
· Ability to establish and utilize tracking mechanisms and compile reports for internal and external use.
· Ability to interpret laws and technical documents to create clear and effective guidance for different stakeholders.
· Ability to communicate professionally and diplomatically with local, state, and federal organizations as well as private individuals in order to answer questions and forward appropriate feedback.
· Knowledge of state and federal election law.
· Experience developing technical guidance and training materials.
· Knowledge of database system concepts, and ability to use a centralized database to manage and track information.

Additional Considerations

·Experience in voter registration and election administration desired.
