Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking an Insurance Services Technician. This is a technical position in a high-volume regulatory unit, responsible for reviewing and processing insurance verification notices, certificates, suspensions, Information Request (FR200), police checks, and accident reports. The insurance Services Technician supports customer service centers, DMV Direct, private and public business partners, and internal departments while ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
The mission of Vehicle Services Administration is to support the agency's vision, mission, customer service philosophy, and Code of Professionalism by ensuring the accuracy of the agency's vehicle operations. This includes vehicle titling, registration, license plate development, insurance verification, salvage, dealer programs, and online programs, all in compliance with federal and state laws. The department manages the development of policies and procedures for these operations in support of our field units and stakeholders.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. In addition, DMV serves many businesses, including dealers, fuel tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations. Minimum Qualifications
•Experience responding to customer inquiries via phone, email, or mail, while providing professional and timely assistance
•Ability to perform detailed work accurately and interpret and explain policies and procedures
•Experience processing insurance certificates, verification notices and orders of suspension while maintaining accurate records of processed documents
•Experience conducting research and experience composing and generating reports
•Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve escalated issues efficiently
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, office equipment, and standard business forms
Additional Considerations
•Experience with DMV operations, insurance verification, or regulatory compliance processes
•Experience conducting research using DMV databases and systems
