Job Duties:

The Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is committed to employing and developing Virginians who are Blind, Visually Impaired, or DeafBlind through the production and delivery of quality goods and services.

We are seeking a Regional Manager – VIB Retail Administration to be responsible for the management, operation and fiscal performance of the assignments in area of responsibility.

  • Reports directly to the Director of Retail Operations. 
  • Coach and develop Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers and employees in your area of responsibility.
  • Timely communication of direction given by the Director of Retail Operations, VIB and DBVI to the stores. 
  • Supervises the store management teams in area of responsibility and ensures that all stores in that area are staffed, trained and achieve both AbilityOne and BSC best practice standards (operational standards).
  • Ensure stores have proper inventory management and maintain a high level of merchandising standards in each location.
  • Collaborates with peers and leadership team to develop, follow and communicate operational processes for the stores. Implements goals and objectives of VIB to promote efficiency of store operations. 
  • Fosters strong relations with host commands/organizations to facilitate sales and grow the business proposition and to respond to customer needs and organizational threats in a quick, professional and value adding manner. 
  • Helps to develop and meet budget commitments on revenue and expenses through effective personnel and inventory management.
  • Coordination of marketing and sales promotions within assigned area to promote sales growth.
  • Grow business to help maintain and create employment opportunities for the blind and visually impaired individuals.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performance Management – directly supervises designated positions. 
  • Retail Store Operations. 
  • Administrative Duties. 
  • Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.
  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.


Requires 80% of time to be spent in the stores and 20% of time to be spent in an office environment completing administrative duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Strong retail management and operations experience. 
  • Supervisory experience. 
  • Experience working in a retail environment including merchandising, inventory management, Point of Sale system operation and replenishment processes. 
  • Experience in training new employees.


Skills:

  • Skill in analyzing, problem solving and exercising good judgment in critical decision making. 
  • Good computer skills including Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.

Abilities:

  • Ability to and use time effectively and efficiently. 
  • Ability to manage a diverse workforce. 
  • Ability to interpret and apply AbilityOne, Federal and State policies. 
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service through establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, customers, vendors and agency personnel. 
  • Ability to lead sales growth and manage operating expenses to established goals. 
  • Ability to use a computer-based calendar to manage tasks and schedule.

Additional Considerations:

• Experience working in a federal government environment.
• Experience working in a military environment.
• Experience in multi-store management

Special Instructions

  • Must be able to successfully pass and maintain criminal background process to access federal buildings and military bases.
  • The selected candidate must complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests as a condition of employment (Va. Code § 2.2 3114).


This position is exempt from the Virginia Personnel Act (“Non-classified”). Non-classified VIB positions have a competitive benefits package that includes:
