For more than three decades, the Virginia Lottery has worked to build a strong reputation, one synonymous with providing fun, entertaining experiences and doing so responsibly and with integrity. Proceeds from traditional Lottery games support K – 12 public education in Virginia. Taxes generated by sports wagering and casino gaming, which are regulated by the Lottery, benefit other priorities of the Commonwealth.

The Virginia Lottery, an independent agency, is currently seeking a Retailer Compliance Representative to join its team. 

The Retailer Compliance Representative conducts surveys of licensed Lottery retailer locations to assess compliance with provisions of the Retailer Compliance Program, and documents survey results using an automated reporting tool. This position will primarily work in the field, and travel extensively within their assigned geographical territory.

The Retail Compliance Representative:

• Obtains proper compliance survey documentation and approvals, as required by Lottery policy and procedures.
• Re-inspects retailer locations after all cited deficiencies have been addressed.
• Accurately documents survey results and findings using automated reporting tool and submits to HQ in timely manner.
• Educates retailers on program requirements.
• Initiates and maintains professional and knowledgeable exchanges with retailers and other Lottery staff (e.g. Sales Representatives; CSC Offices) regarding compliance issues.
• Keeps Manager informed on an ongoing basis regarding activities, progress towards meeting performance goals, recurring concerns or questions, etc.
• Accurately processes accessibility surveys in the CRM database.
• Safety issues are communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction of work-related accidents.
• Assists and promote the growth of New Retailers. Continue to survey new retailers for accessibility as they are licensed.
• Assists in the maintenance of the agency current retailer base.
• Tests, innovates and expands new technology and use of iPad in the Retailer Accessibility Program.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ experience in Customer Service business environment.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
• Minimum three years’ experience working mobile applications (Microsoft 365) and use of mobile equipment (ex: tablets).
• At least two years’ experience integrating routing tools (ex: GPS, maps, etc.) into their daily workload.
• Proficient in desktop applications such as, but not limited to Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in mobile applications (Microsoft 365) and use of mobile equipment (ex: tablets).
• Working knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act compliance measurements.
• Effective communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and listening skills.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be integrate routing tools (ex: GPS, maps, etc.) into their daily workload.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive material.
• High degree of Customer Service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, research, problem-solving, and time management practices.

Additional Considerations

• Previous lottery experience is preferred.
• Bilingual/language skills preferred.

Special Instructions

• Must complete background investigation. Valid driver’s license, with satisfactory driving record is required.
• Extensive workday travel required within assigned geographical territory. Frequent overnight travel and irregular work schedules required. Geographic territory includes Stafford County/Fredericksburg/Northern Neck, Richmond region, South Hill/Emporia, Hampton Roads/Tidewater and the Eastern Shore.

• Must reside in VA and be willing to live within 50 miles of assigned geographic area’s business center.
• Telework eligible.
• Position will work from a home office and will be provided a state vehicle.
• Required in-person work at the Richmond HQ office (based on workload or by request from management).
