The Virginia Department of Health is currently seeking a Nutritionist Supervisor to join the Richmond City Health District. The Nutritionist Supervisor will play a critical role in supervising nutrition staff in clinics and/or coordinating all WIC and other nutritional program components district wide.
Some of the duties are as follows:
• Oversees staffing, training, and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Supports program planning, monitoring, and performance analysis.
• Collaborates with district staff, ensures a welcoming customer environment, and resolves inquiries or complaints.
• Reviews medical, hematological, and anthropometric data to interpret needs and document findings
• Provides nutrition education, develops individualized care plans, sets goals, and makes appropriate referrals.
• Promotes nutrition programs and best practices, serving as a subject matter expert when needed.

This is a restricted position which is solely funded by Federal WIC Funds. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually and periodically thereafter. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-general funds.

VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year’s seasonal influenza vaccination.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of principles/practices of nutrition/dietetics & it’s relationship to public health/regulations or standards for program
• Knowledge of nutrition principles & ability to make nutritional assessments
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients & staff members
• Ability to respond to public inquiry regarding the nutrition program
• Must meet requirements for use of title, dietitian/nutritionist as authorized by 54.1 – 2731 of Code of VA; prefer Registered Dietitian

• Registration by Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Obtain certification as Competent Professional Authority within (6) months of hire
