Job Duties:

The mission of the Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is to employ and develop Virginians who are Blind, Visually Impaired or Deaf Blind to achieve their desired level of employment through the manufacture and delivery of quality products and services.

We are seeking a VIB Shipping & Receiving Associate.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide on time and accurate shipping of goods as needed to customers. 
  • Receiving incoming material. 
  • Ship customer orders using UPS WorldShip. 
  • Responsibility may also include forklift operation and material movement, providing customer service, stocking shelves, and other duties in support of the operation. 
  • Keep supervisor abreast of inventory status.


Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.
Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

• Shipping/receiving/warehousing experience.
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures, including warehousing of product and maintaining inventory records.

Skills:

• Professional attitude.
• Good at multi-tasking with little supervision.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, familiarity with internet, Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office software.
• Basic math and legible handwriting skills.

Abilities:

  • Ability to learn general knowledge of products sold. 
  • Ability to perform duties independently without direct supervision. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand up to 7 hours. 
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack/ forklift. 
  • Ability to learn shipping programs, i.e. UPS World Ship. 
  • Ability to learn Inventory control programs.   
  • Ability to adapt and change direction without issue

Additional Considerations:

  • General warehousing and/or retail experience. 
  • UPS Wordship experience. 
  • Powered Industrial Truck certification. 
  • Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets.

This position is exempt from the Virginia Personnel Act (“nonclassified”). Nonclassified VIB positions have a competitive benefits package that includes:
