The Virginia Treasury is seeking a Computer Support Specialist. This position will play a key support role for the Agency as the primary end user support interface for users and executive level staff. This position will also be the primary liaison with VITA in support of major desktop or software related projects. In addition, this specialist will be the primary liaison for the vendor support of the agency Audio/Video conference equipment that are critical to many of the services and collaborative meetings we have with other boards, agencies, or the public. In addition, this role will be responsible for maintaining the Agency hardware/software inventory and insuring alignment with the VITA CMDB. This role plays a key role in vulnerability management by updating software on workstations manually and using automated deployment tools. This position will also act as the Agency primary telecommunications coordinator with VITA for all mobile procurements.

This role will also interface closely with the Agency ISO has together they maintain and support the on-boarding and off-boarding of new staff and the maintenance and execution of System Access Requests. While the primary responsibility of this position is end-user support, this position will work closely with the Agency System/Server Admin and have opportunities to grow technically in areas beyond desktop support.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong proficiency performing as technical support staff to include:
o A general technical understanding of remote support operations and procedures
o A general technical understanding of support and troubleshooting of Dell and HP computer hardware
o A general technical understanding of support and troubleshooting of Microsoft Operating Systems and Office Products.
o A general technical understanding of working with Incident/Request Management systems.
o Experience in risk management with a focus on end user computing.

Strong Customer Service Skills and Teamwork:
o Understand customer business needs and recommend the appropriate technology and process solution(s) to meet business needs and requirements
o Effective communication and time management
o The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of customers, to include staff, other state agencies, and Commonwealth partnership vendors. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
o Effective collaboration with other IT Staff, internal and external customers, and senior management
o A cooperative and team driven attitude with respect to all people and partners involved with the IT Help Desk's ability to resolve service requests and incidents
o Ability to create clear detail-oriented documentation of all tasks performed and solutions

Results Focus:
o Skilled in multi-tasking and management of multiple IT related tasks
o Ability to analyze the root cause of issues, detect trends and report them
o Utilization of available resources to effectively resolve issues
o The ability to work under pressure during critical business service outages

Additional Considerations

• Prior Virginia state experience
• Experiencing interfacing with VITA (Virginia Information Technologies Agency)
