Southeastern Virginia Training Center is hiring a part time, Registered Nurse II to join our team. The part-time Registered Nurse provides nursing care for individuals living at Southeastern Virginia Training Center. This position also assists the team in provision of supports to meet additional individual needs.

 About the Role

This position supports the facility’s mission by providing nursing care for individuals living in SEVTC Steppingstones neighborhood. The team nurse also assists the team in provision of support to meet additional individual needs. Nursing duties require the integration of health care needs and support into the overall habilitation plan, collaborating with the PST (Personal Support Team) and physicians to provide optimal services, and providing ongoing training to direct support staff members. To communicate with family members and authorized representatives.
This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency or facility need. All SEVTC positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.

All new hires must successfully complete the facility’s pre-service training program. Preservice training class is 12 days long 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

This position is hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.

Schedule:

This position works 7am – 3pm, rotating weekends.

 Skills and experience required:

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about helping others and making a positive impact on their lives. We also seek the following:

  • Requires a valid Virginia Nursing license or a license in a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • RN degree or licensure required.
  • Current certification in CPR and first aid.

 

  • Valid active driver’s license required.
