Job Duties
The Office of the Children’s Ombudsman (OCO) seeks a full-time Investigations Analyst to join our team.

The Investigations Analyst conducts case reviews and complaint investigations of the actions of the Virginia Department of Social Services, local departments of social services, and child-serving agencies concerning children involved in child protective services and foster care. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are required.
Minimum Qualifications
The Investigations Analyst will manage an assigned caseload of case reviews and investigations and will have the following responsibilities:
• Reviewing records and documentation.
• Conducting interviews of complainants, agency staff, and collateral parties.
• Compliance with protocols, policies, and procedures established by the Ombudsman.
• Work collaboratively with local departments of social services and colleagues at the Virginia Department of Social Services and other child-serving agencies.
• Preparing written reports of findings and recommendations and other documents for case closure.
• Other duties as assigned.
Additionally, the Investigations Analyst will participate with the OCO team to recommend policies, procedures, and laws to improve the child welfare system and impact individual cases. The Investigations Analyst will have the opportunity to:
• Participate with the OCO team in developing recommendations for the OCO’s annual reports.
• Assist with special projects related to the mission of the OCO.
• Serve on external committees and workgroups.
• Attend workshops, trainings, and conferences related to child welfare.

This is an At-Will position appointed by the Governor of Virginia. Selected applicant will need to successfully pass a criminal background check. Limited travel may be required. This position is based in Richmond, Virginia. Some telework will be considered.
