Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, Division of Marketing and Development is seeking a dynamic marketing professional to serve as Program Manager in the Office of Promotions. The selected individual will oversee the work unit and staff that implement programs designed to facilitate and promote purchases and consumption of Virginia foods and beverages. These include the Virginia’s Finest trademark program for Virginia specialty food and beverage producers, and the Virginia Grown program, including website and logo, for farms and markets selling directly to consumers. This position also oversees marketing and promotional events, including the Virginia Food & Beverage Expo and VDACS presence at major trade and consumer food and beverage events. Once onboarded, this position may be eligible for telework opportunities; availability, hours, and duration of telework shall be approved as outlined in the Commonwealth’s telework policy.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of agriculture and/or processed food, beverage, high value and value-added agriculture product marketing programs and principles, and of management, supervisory and budget practices and techniques. Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze industry trends and adapt marketing strategies accordingly. Experience managing personnel, programs, budgets and events. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with media, communications or public relations, including electronic marketing channels and social media. Experience in marketing concepts and programs, particularly related to agricultural and food/beverage products. H.S Diploma/GED required. Must have and maintain a valid Drivers' License with a driving record that reflects a sense of responsibility for highway safety.

Additional Considerations

A combination of related education, training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities to include knowledge of Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Advertising, or Agriculture.
