Job Duties:
To employ and support Virginians who are blind, visually impaired, or deafblind in achieving their desired level of employment through the manufacture and delivery of quality products and services.
We are seeking a VIB Store Associate – Oceana (Wage) to provide stock, cashier, and customer service support using an automated point‑of‑sale system.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Operating the cash register
• Providing customer service and assisting with special orders
• Receiving merchandise
• Stocking shelves
• Ensuring quality assurance standards
• Moving materials as needed
• Performing additional duties to support Base Supply Store operations
Duties include but are not limited to:
Customer Service
Provide accurate information and respond to customer inquiries in a helpful and professional manner.
Point‑of‑Sale Operations
Operate the computerized POS system, scanning merchandise and entering required transaction data to accurately record sales.
Store Appearance
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked store in accordance with established retail standards.
Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
This is a wage (part‑time) position that will work 32 - 40 hours per week with an average of 35. It cannot exceed 1500 hours during the employment year. This position does not include health insurance, retirement, or leave benefits.
Minimum Qualifications:
Skills:
• Good computer skills including Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
Abilities:
- Ability to provide excellent customer service through establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, customers, vendors and agency personnel.
- Ability to perform duties independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand up to 8 hours
Additional Considerations:
• Experience working in a federal government environment.
• Experience working in a military environment.
