The Finance & Administration unit at the Department of Accounts (DOA) is seeking a qualified individual for a Fiscal Technician position. 

This position is required to work in the downtown Richmond office full-time, 5 days per week. This position does not telework. This is a non-exempt position.

Job Duties

This position supports the Department of Accounts’ Fiscal Services Bureau by processing a variety of accounting transactions, such as vendor payments, travel reimbursement vouchers, travel advances, journal entries, expenditure transactions, and deposits, in alignment with the CAPP Manual and agency policies. The role ensures the accuracy of the information entered in the automated accounting system and the voucher log for all transactions. The role is responsible for front desk operations, including assessing customer needs, and making decisions regarding the appropriate routing of issues. It oversees the sorting and distribution of agency mail and works closely with the security desk to screen agency visitors. The role assists with public records by updating the tracking worksheet and maintaining documentation in compliance with Library of Virginia requirements. Additional duties include serving as backup support for the DGS Parking Custodian, preparing and tracking legislative activity, and coordinating legal notices.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience with automated financial/accounting systems. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word). Proficient in the areas of organization, accuracy, computer usage, customer service, and oral and written communication. Ability to work collaboratively with management, staff, and agency personnel at all levels, and communicate effectively with internal and external staff. Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures and follow written and oral directions. Ability to perform accurate data entry, record and summarize transactions accurately, and manage details with few errors. Must be able to read, understand, and apply rules, policies, and procedures. Must display proper time management and multitasking skills in order to meet deadlines. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and the ability to maintain a strong level of professionalism in all interactions and work effectively in a team setting.

Additional Considerations

This position is required to work in the downtown (Richmond, VA) office full-time (5 days per week). This position does not telework.

Experience utilizing the CAPP Manual preferred;
Experience with the Library of Virginia retention preferred.
Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Financial applications (Cardinal Financials) preferred.
