Job Duties
Conducts investigations of tobacco product manufacturers, licensed tobacco product distributors, and tobacco product retailers to ensure compliance with Virginia tobacco laws.
Assists in both criminal and regulatory investigations. Works with local, state, and federal law enforcement and government agencies. Prepares evidence for prosecution and testifies to such findings in state and federal courts as needed. Assists with special projects as needed.
This position will be home-office based with access to the Hampton Roads, Virginia office location, covering the area east of Henrico County extending to the coastal region from Westmoreland and Northumberland Counties in the north to Greensville through Norfolk and Virginia Beach in the south, including Northampton and Accomack Counties to the east. Extensive travel will be required, including occasional overnight travel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidates must be prepared for extensive and daily highway travel and for conducting multiple daily inspections in all locations referenced above.
- Successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in time management, ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks, strong planning and organizational skills, ability to work independently and as a team member, ability to organize and analyze large quantities of information, keen attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative.
- Candidates should have demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing and database management systems (Microsoft products preferred).
Additional Considerations
- Applicants must have a related undergraduate degree, law enforcement certification or commensurate experience.
- Major course work in criminal justice or prior investigative experience is preferred, however an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the required qualifications may be substituted for educational criteria.
