Are you a detail-driven professional who enjoys meaningful public service and thrives in a fast-paced administrative environment? The Virginia Department of Aviation is seeking an Aircraft Registration Specialist, a critical role in aircraft compliance operations across the Commonwealth.
In this role, you will:
· COMMUNICATE professionally with the public and colleagues, demonstrating customer-
focused service to support aircraft owners, businesses, and the general public.
· SERVE as a key public-facing resource and provide essential administrative and technical support to the Aircraft Compliance Coordinator in administering Virginia’s Aircraft Registration and Compliance Program.
· SUPPORT the end-to-end aircraft registration process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with state tax requirements using registration processes and programs.
Every aircraft registered, record maintained, and customer assisted contributes directly to aircraft compliance and the success of aviation across Virginia. This position plays a vital role in administering the Commonwealth’s Aircraft Registration and Compliance Program. This role is ideal for a highly reliable individual who demonstrates strong critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and exceptional attention to detail. The position serves as a primary public-facing resource, assisting aircraft owners, airport personnel, and the general public with registration requirements, renewals, and use of the agency’s online portal. The registration specialist must be able to work independently, manage a high-volume workload, respond professionally to inquiries, and effectively navigate situations that require tact and conflict resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the public and to work
effectively with colleagues. Strong spelling, grammar, and basic math skills.
• Proficiency with computers and standard business software, including Microsoft
Office (Word and Excel).
• Ability to create and maintain accurate records while demonstrating strong
organizational skills, including researching, proofreading, following directions, and
organizing information.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, tact, and courtesy in interactions with internal and
external customers. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced
environment, maintain attention to detail, and think independently to resolve issues.
• Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment, along with the ability to
understand and communicate departmental policies and services, is required.
• Experience with registration processes and programs.
