Job Duties
The Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC), Acute Care Division, is seeking a Medical Facilities Inspector Supervisor to conduct onsite surveys/inspections and complaint investigations of home care agencies. Duties to include state certification, validation, and complaints; Virginia state licensures inspections, interpretation and state laws and regulations to ensure compliance; and the preparation of the written findings. This position is designated as a mobile worker role, requiring approximately 80% travel throughout the workweek. The primary service area is Northern Virginia; however, occasional travel outside of this region may be required based on operational needs.
Applicants should be health care professionals with sufficient clinical experience to evaluate the delivery of healthcare. Must be able to evaluate health related services to determine adherence to established regulations and standards, able to effectively communicate detailed information verbally and in writing, have strong organizational skills to plan and execute a schedule of travel to meet the deadlines. Travel is expected throughout the state of Virginia with overnight stays as necessary, utilizing your personal vehicle until a state car is available and assigned. A valid driver’s license in the state of Virginia is required to operate your personal vehicle or operating a state issued vehicle while conducting business on the behalf of the Office of Licensure and Certification.
This position currently offers a sign-on bonus of $5,000 and 40 hours of front-loaded annual leave time with a one-year written agreement for external candidates
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in articulate and legally defensible manner
• Knowledge of quality-of-care issues, health care operations, management and service delivery systems
• Ability to interpret and consistently apply laws and regulations and understand consequence of violations
• Management skills in planning, analysis, scheduling, team building and providing customer services
• General knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Ability to supervise a diverse workforce, which may be dispersed throughout the state in home-based offices
• If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date. All MFI’s must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) [Ref.2] within 90 days of hire date and annually except for Complaint Unit.
