Job Duties

The Office of Admissions at Virginia Military Institute is seeking qualified candidates for Regional New Cadet Recruiter. A Regional New Cadet Recruiter’s purpose is to attract, recruit and drive prospective cadets in assigned regions to apply to VMI through a variety of methods, including visiting high schools and JROTC programs, community colleges, attending state/national college fairs, conducting enrollment presentations, managing recruitment correspondence through VMI’s new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and coordinating and assisting with on- and off-post recruitment programs. The Regional New Cadet Recruiter communicates daily with prospective students and families and will manage events designed to develop relationships with high school and community college counselors. This position will also support the broader mission of the Office of Admissions by assisting with general recruitment activities
Territory assignments will be based on business need and could change annually. The incumbents must be willing to reside in Virginia and frequently travel within their primary regions to visit local schools, JROTC programs, and community colleges. They must also be amenable to attending events and meetings on post in Lexington, Virginia, and other recruitment regions when needed. The ideal candidates would reside in northern Virginia, the greater Richmond area, or in the Tidewater/Hampton Roads area.
These positions require heavy travel in the state of Virginia and the assigned national regions during primary recruiting periods. These positions will also travel to VMI once per month.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong oral and written communication skills.
The ability to speak with both large and small groups of people.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of the unique VMI educational model.
Comfortable with the use of technology.

Additional Considerations

These positions require heavy travel in the state of Virginia and the assigned national regions during primary recruiting periods. These positions will also travel to VMI once per month.

Previous experience working in higher education; preferably at VMI or another senior military college.

Previous experience working in the military.
