Job Duties

The Corrections Administration Manager provides high-level operational leadership, executive coordination, and strategic initiative management for key Division of Administration functions, initiatives, and organizational priorities. Reporting directly to the Deputy Director for Administration, this position supports the advancement of executive priorities, operational modernization efforts, enterprise reporting, and cross-functional initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness and advance the Department’s public safety mission.

This position leads and oversees assigned administrative functions, assigned units, and strategic initiatives while driving implementation of high-priority projects, operational improvements, and organizational priorities across the Division of Administration. The role serves as a strategic partner to the Deputy Director for Administration by translating executive direction into actionable plans, measurable outcomes, and sustainable operational improvements.

Working in close partnership with executive leadership, operational divisions, and central office stakeholders, the Corrections Administration Manager advances organizational performance through disciplined execution, data-informed decision-making, accountability, and enterprise collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive progressively responsible experience in administrative and/or operational functions within the Virginia Department of Corrections, state government, or a similarly complex public sector environment. Demonstrated experience leading complex operational initiatives, executive priorities, strategic projects, or cross-functional programs within a governmental or public safety environment.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities, support executive decision-making, and drive operational improvements that strengthen organizational performance and accountability. Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate policies, procedures, operational standards, and executive priorities while building effective working relationships with executive leadership, operational divisions, external stakeholders, and support functions. Demonstrated ability to exercise leadership and influence across operational areas and multidisciplinary teams in support of agency goals and strategic initiatives.

Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data, prepare executive-level reports and briefings, and support data-driven decision-making. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced operational environment.

Ability to complete Virginia Ethics Council Conflict of Interest requirements in accordance with the Code of Virginia.

Additional Considerations

Extensive knowledge of organizational operations, administrative practices, and state procedures governing areas such as finance, human resources, procurement, budgeting, reporting, or operational administration.
