Job Duties
This position exists to serve as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Virginia State University. To create a positive and winning environment in the women's soccer program while graduating student-athletes. The Head Coach is required to abide by the rile and regulations established by Virginia State University, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the USCAA and the NCAA.
The Head Women’s soccer Coach is responsible for the continued growth and development of student-athletes within the women’s soccer program. The primary function is to instruct and educate the student-athletes on how to correctly perform and execute each skill and technique which is essential to their success and the success of the women’s soccer program. Supervise and evaluate assistant women’s soccer Coach annually. Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Job Duties:
- Oversee all aspect of the women’s soccer program by developing, coordinating and providing all team and individual skill instruction while teaching the fundamentals and correct techniques, as well as increasing the level of performance and providing direction for individual player improvements.
- Identify and recruit academically proficient prospective student-athletes that fit into the mission of Virginia State University in the area of recruitment for VSU and the women’s soccer program.
- Meet regularly with the student-athletes and Athletic Academic Advisors to assist in the academic counseling, and classroom spot checks throughout the academic day to monitor the academic progress of the student-athletes.
- Perform administrative duties and tasks within the Athletic Department and women’s soccer program.
- Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor and other duties as assigned by VSU Administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college.
Must have experience working in an organized women’s soccer team environment.
Must be knowledgeable of the basic fundamental skills as well as the ability to provide instruction and teach techniques of women’s soccer.
Must be able to work in a diverse and team setting while having the ability to attract student-athletes to VSU.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
*Virginia State University requires that faculty be appropriately credentialed to teach assigned courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. VSU demonstrates compliance with its Faculty Credentialing Policy #2301 for all applicable education, experience, licensure and certification requirements in the selection and hiring of its faculty.
Additional Considerations
Masters preferred.
Head Coaching experience preferred.
