Job Duties

Virginia Energy is seeking an AML Director to lead and strengthen the Abandoned Mine Land (AML) Program. This role oversees the effective reclamation of AML and bond‑forfeiture sites, ensures strong performance and coordination of Title IV AML personnel, and manages AML project selection, advancement, special initiatives, and the restoration of high‑priority watersheds. The AML Director also administers the Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization (AMLER) Program grant to support economic recovery in AML‑impacted communities and directs AML projects and funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Broad and thorough knowledge of coal mining and reclamation techniques, laws regulations and economic development principles.
  • Knowledge of management and business principles.
  • Ability to supervise and manage personnel.
  • Ability to meet and work effectively with public, industry and government representatives; communicate and interact clearly and effectively with others.
